Welcome to Riverside Soaps! It is my absolute pleasure to create low-allergen, natural, and vegan/vegetarian soaps and body products for my customers!
None of my products contain:
- BHA and BHT

- DEA-related ingredients
- Dibutyl phthalate
- Formaldehyde-releasing preservatives
- PEG compounds
- Sodium laureth sulfate
I ONLY use responsibly-sourced, sustainable ingredients, including sustainably sourced palm oils. I have made a commitment to Palm Done Right by becoming a retail partner - I encourage you to find out more at palmdoneright.com; people sometimes think that it's best to avoid using palm oil entirely, however, this is not the case (check out this great article about why you should choose responsibly-sourced palm products https://blog.publicgoods.com/are-sustainable-palm-oil-products-actually-making-a-difference/ ) I hand-pick some of my wildcrafted ingredients at a local organic farm, Mike's Garden Harvest. My Down the Garden Path collection features all-natural, vegan or vegetarian products, while my Artisan line contains products that are largely natural, but do contain nature-identical mica colorants, Iron Oxides, or paraben-free fragrance oils.
I started making soap many moons ago when my son was born with severe eczema, and I ended up learning to make my own diapers and soap to help calm his skin. I made soap again several years ago as a gift for teachers, friends, and family for Christmas. When our dearly departed German Shepherd, Ritter, was diagnosed with Lupus, he had rough, itchy skin, and I turned once again to making my own soaps for him; sadly, the first batch hadn't cured before he injured himself on the ice and had to be put down. You'll be seeing Ritter's Own soap coming soon for your furry companions.
I'm dedicated to minimizing my carbon footprint, and that includes Riverside Soaps. I work with several local businesses, and am dedicated to using compostable, recycled, and recyclable packaging wherever possible. I'm sad to say that it's difficult to find compostable containers and packing materials that are made in Canada, but I'm sure that in time that will change.
Riverside Soaps is family-run; my 13-year-old Wolfie is our Website Designer and Creative Consultant, and my 16-year-old son Gabe is our Inventory Control Officer. (Ever notice how kids love to help out when you give them a title? :)
If you have any requests for products, please don't hesitate to let me know, and don't forget to vote for our next soap at the bottom of the home page for your chance to win!
